Remembrance Day 2024

We walked to the church and when we got there, Reverend Julie was playing The Last Post. During the music, there was a 2 minute silence where we all remembered those who lost their lives for us. Julie held prayers for them. There was a wooden soldier at the church doors listing the names of people from the Parish who had lost their lives in WW1 and WW2. We went to the graves of people who had died fighting for us and laid a poppy wreaths over them. We learnt that there were some people from our Parish who were buried abroad. She taught us that the official graves for soldiers were all the same no matter their rank as everyone is the same. There were 5 members of the same family who had all died in the wars. Reverend Julie told us what they did in the war and the years that the were with us for. We laid our remaining wreaths inside the church where The Last Post was played again. We learnt a lot and it helped us to understand that soldiers lost our lives for us and that if they hadn't fought for us, we may not be here.
