Welcome

We are a Church of England school for children aged from 4 to 11. We believe wholeheartedly in the provision of strong moral teaching and are strongly committed to providing a Church School education.  In practice, this means that the school has developed strong links with St. Paul’s church, Bentley, and applies Christian principles related to behaviour, discipline and valuing each other.  Children are taught to respect each other and the environment.

Our children are divided into seven classes by year group, each class having up to 30 children.

We have a reputation for achieving very high standards in Maths, English and Science. To enhance this, we have worked hard to develop a broad, balanced and exciting curriculum. Our ICT facilities including; Laptops and iPads enable the children to enhance their learning and develop their skills in readiness for the outside world. In the infants, we use the Little Wandle Phonics scheme to teach phonics and early reading and encourage enthusiasm for books. We continue to teach phonics in the juniors if necessary to ensure that the children make continued progress in this area and move onto spelling when children are ready.

The R.E. curriculum is taught through an agreed, planned programme of study from the diocese for each year group.  Our children  learn about different aspects of the Christian religion as well as developing their knowledge and understanding of other faiths.  R.E. is taught through three lenses, Theology, Philosophy and Human and Social Sciences to ensure they have a broad exploration of faith and the impact it has on them, the community and beyond.

We support children of all abilities including those with SEND.  All children are welcome and we have an inclusive curriculum which supports the learning of all pupils.  We create personalised curriculums for children with needs that restrict their ability to access the National Curriculum for their age group.

The school environment is very important to us at Bentley St. Paul’s. We want the children to learn in a pleasant environment and we have worked hard to develop a wide range of exciting, interesting, calm and shady areas for the children to play in.

If you are a prospective parent interested in sending your child to our school you are invited to contact the school office to make a viewing appointment and we will be pleased to show you around our school.
