United Kingdom
Hi Bentley pupils, Mrs Hanlon here. This week I am kicking off 'Music of the Week'. This term it is all about music from different countries. This week, I will be playing you music from the United Kingdom. So sit back, relax and listen.
Monday - You are going to listen to a piece of music from an English Composer called Ralph Vaughan Williams. He was one of the most important composers of the 20th century. He spent years travelling the country collecting English folk songs and writing them down. Many of their melodies ending up in his music.
Now ask Alexa to play the Wasp Overture by Vaughan Williams.
Tuesday - You are going to listen to a piece of music from Dame Evelyn Glennie born in Scotland in 1965. She performs percussion and what is unique about her is that she has been deaf since the age of 12 so she uses the vibrations of her instruments to play them.
