Mathematics
Children should develop a deep conceptual understanding of the numbers to 10, the relationships between them and the patterns there in. By providing frequent and varied opportunities to build and apply this understanding, will help enable them to develop secure knowledge of number and numerical patterns.
Below are some tips, resources and activities that you could use to support your child when helping them to develop those skills...
When your child is engaging in any mathematical activity, having the necessary resources available is important. It allows the child to refer to them as and when needed, helping them to clarify their thinking, develop their independence and promote their self-help skills. The resources should be a mixture of concrete and pictorial - things such as pasta, building blocks, number lines, pictures of 2D shapes are just a few examples of things that can be used to support learning and deepen your child's mathematical knowledge further.
