In Reception we follow a different curriculum called the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. This was created to ensure your child’s first 5 years are happy, active, exciting, fun and secure, as well as to support their development, care and learning needs, preparing them for their future successes.
Below I have included some resources to support or extend the teaching of phonics, literacy and mathematics. Please use these resources as you wish, they could be used alongside the topic activities or as some extra support or challenge for your child.
Although your child may not be at school it is important we don't let all that fantastic knowledge they have learnt so far slip away, and would love if you could spend part of each day doing some focused activities with your child.
Once a fortnight I will be putting together a table that is broken up into the 7 areas of learning and development, under each area there will be a number of activities all linking to a specific topic. These areas of learning guide us into organising different activities and play scenarios that will support your child in learning new and specific skills and knowledge. Some activities are not very difficult and have more element of fun, others may challenge your child slightly and may be more taxing. It is not statutory that you complete all these activities however feel free to pick and choose as you wish in order to create a balanced day that keeps your child’s brain active. Along side these activities, each week I will be putting up a phonics focus to support your child in learning to read and write.
