United Against Bullying

Monday 16.11.20

It's Odd Socks Day!

Please can you watch the assembly below!

Wednesday

Can you listen to this song and then answer the following questions:

1. What do you think the song is about?

2. How are the lyrics linked to Anti-bullying week and why do you think Andy chose them?

Look at the chorus lyrics: 'If the kids are united then we'll never be divided'. As well as standing united against bullying, in what other ways can we stand untied in order to make positive changes within our school, the community and even the world?

Can you try and create your own dance routine for the chorus 'If the kids are united then we'll never be divided'. The more expressive the better, because our uniqueness, like our odd socks, needs to be celebrated! We can be unique and united all at once!

Thursday

Design an Anti-Bullying Superhero!

Plan: Create a plan for your hero, including the following:

• Hero name

• Costume colour

• Logo or symbol

• Their powers and how they got them

• Who they protect or stand up for and why

Design: Draw the costume and label each part

Assess: Share Superhero ideas with the class and assess what has been done well and how the design could be supercharged even more! You will end up with your own Anti-Bullying Superhero Squad!

Friday

Please watch the film on the link below.

Think about what makes you unique, write some words or draw symbols that represent your individuality and then share your answers with those around you.

We are all unique, and by uniting, it doesn’t take that away from us, it simply makes us stronger. We have more power to overcome injustice and adversity when we join together.

Look at the handout below: The Puzzle Piece

Think back to the activity on what you would choose to do to take a stand against bullying.

In the centre of the puzzle piece, write down your action, starting with ‘I choose’ ... for example:

• ‘I choose to be kind and not leave people out at playtime.’

• ‘I choose to tell an adult if I see someone being bullied.’

Once you have written your statement, you should design your puzzle piece in your own unique way that celebrates who you are. You could draw symbols of things you enjoy such as hobbies or clubs you are part of, using colours or shapes you like.

The choice is yours!
